never a bad time to make a mends

A couple of months ago I was searching the internet for people in my past. I happened to type in the name of my advisor while I was working on my PhD. For those of you who don't know the story, a lot of things happened in that process that, for a while, made me very bitter toward her. It got to the point that I was either going to be eaten up by anger or forgive her, even though apologies were never made.
So I decided I was tired of feeling angry and I looked for ways to serve her. This wasn't too hard of a task because she was suffering from breast cancer and was going through treatment. I would drop baskets by her office of the things I knew she could keep down and I would pray to have the ability to forgive.
Well I always say the Lord has the midas touch and He can touch anything and turn it to gold, even something as ugly as anger. By turning to Him and letting go of hard feelings , I can honestly say I overcame my bitterness and I learned that life is to short to be angry.

Anyway, as I was saying, I looked her up on the net and found this:

Dr. Kathleen Briggs, 44, of Henderson, Nev., passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008, after a 10-year battle with breast cancer.

I sat on my bed and cried for a woman who at onetime I felt so bitter toward. I mourned her loss, her short time here on this earth, the battle she faced for so many years.

I also thanked my Father in Heaven for the power to heal damaged hearts. Life is too short to not say I'm sorry, to not forgive those who may have caused us pain. I have felt the pain of living with angry and the peace that comes from forgiving. I enjoy the peace so much more.
