Music Week

It's all about music this week. So here were the kids choices on musicians.

Parker- The king of jazz-Louis Armstrong

Ella- Wolfgang Mozart

Jackson- Woody Guthrie

Asher- The grandfather of rock-n-roll - Les Paul

We learned a lot about these men this week. Parker wrote a 14 page report on Louis Armstrong- who's given name was Daniel. Did you know/

We also had some great outings to learn about different instruments and to hear them played.

Our first stop was Heidi's. She is the kids piano teacher and let me tell you she has quite the musical family. Heidi was very kind and took the time to describe all the different classes of instrument and kindly played the cello for the kids. We also got to take a look at the harp which her daughter Rachel plays and her daughter Ashley played the flute for us. I told you they were a talented family.

Next Porter came over and played a song or two on his sax. He also answered a lot of questions and put a plug in for middle school band. Pretty impressive for a 13 year old. Anyway we had a great time this week learning all about music.

Tomorrow it's the violin and the clarinet. We have quite the talent here in our ward. I feel so blessed that we have so many people willing to help out on our summer learning adventures.

Heidi played this for the kids. This guy is amazing. Steven Sharp Nelson- The Cello Song on youtube
