Parker's school has just recently ended a strike. For information go here. This was my first experience with a strike and while it was frustrating watching her miss school while issues were resolved, I do admire the individuals who faced bitterly cold weather and held out till they received what they felt was a fair wage. I guess I sympathize with unions and union workers because my dad made a career as the head of a union for over 35 years. I've seen countless home movies of him walking the picket line so that workers would be paid a fair wage and receive the benefits they felt they deserved.
Anywho, here's Parker take on the strike. She ask could she take her sleeping bag up to school to wait out the strike and so that she could be there right when it was over. She also hoped Mrs. Burke got the money she deserved because she thought she really is a great teaches aide ( the strike did not include teachers. The custodial staff, teacher's aide's and cafeteria staff were the ones on strike).
As for Jack's input, he just hoped school would be back in before his time to go so that he could reach his life long ambition to become a crayon. If asked, "Jack what do you want to be when you grow up?" his reply will be "A crayon, I want to be blue." He dreams big.
So Thursday Parker was back at school and very excited. This is a child who hates the weekends because there's no school. I for one I'm so excited that she loves school so much.

And, isn't it ironic that my Emma got sick the very day they got to go back? I feel like we have been out of school since before Christmas! I hope you guys get feeling better, too! I love Jack, he is so sweet and he would make a great blue crayon!
That's intense. Way to go Parker & Fam for getting involved there!
