Jesse's night out

The night went something like this...

Dad hurried the kids from their baths and into their pj's for a surprise outing. With book in hand they made their way out the door leaving mom behind on her elliptical machine. "Where are we going?", she heard Parker ask as she reached 102 calories burned. "It's a surprise", dad called as they headed out the door.

Enough of the narration....let me just tell you about the special night Jesse had with the three oldest kids. He took them up on a hill which overlooks the town, river, and farmlands below. He then read from the Big Red Barn. If that wasn't fun enough, on the way home they got to look for red barns and other scenes from the book. Parker excitedly exclaimed when they got home that they had counted 8 red barns. They were also able to share a Frosty and run in the front yard before bedtime. Do they have a great dad or what? I think we all sense the impending doom called "Residency" and are trying to make the most of our time together! Countless evenings have been spent by Jesse sitting in back of Jack pushing him on the swings or throwing frisbees in the yard with the girls. Asher has also received quality holding time with daddy. I have enjoyed playing board games, watching Deadliest Catch, and just spending time with Jess. Needless to say we are all going to miss his company over the next few years but will make good use of the times that we do have him home.

WOW!!! Jesse is incredible!!! What a great example we have to watch and learn from to be able to be a great parent/spouse. You're great Jesse!!! Christie, I'm envious of you and your energy to still be able to get on an eliptical machine in the evening...you are amazing!!! I need to do the same -I have never been this heavy (in my entire life). Hope I can get the drive to do it soon -before I explode. Have a great night...love you all.

Christie, I don't know if you know who I am, I am a friend of Emily Craig and Shauna Brown, and I hung out with Steve and Jesse for a while after they got home from their missions. I saw your name on Emily's blog today and have had fun reading your blog posts. While I was reading I thought of something Jesse said a long time ago when he drove past a small yard and said it was too small, that a yard needed to be big enough to throw a frisby back and forth in. I have often judged the size of a yard by that, so I was glad to see that you and Jesse have a great yard for your kids to run in. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

As a grammy in all of my married kids homes, I know you all have this fun book and the darling grands have memorized most if not all of it. What a fun night Jesse; I hope your kiddos will have this tucked into their memories. HI PEPPER; I remember you too.
